TTC University Video Contest

Texture Technologies Corp recently held a video competition for US and Canadian Universities to raise awareness, through the use of energetic video productions, of the importance of texture analysis to the food industry. The rules and judging criteria were distributed in February 2009.

The winners of the contest were announced on Sunday afternoon at the 2009 IFT Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA.

The judges for the contest were: Dr. Malcolm Bourne, Dr. Carl Hoseney, Dr. Ted Labuza, Dr. John Mathew, and Marc Johnson.


The winners were:
  • West Virginia University won 1st Prize and US$ 2,500 for their entry "Food Texture Analysis at WVU"
  • Brigham Young University won 2nd Prize and $ 1,000 for a video which could be named "Waiting For The Cheese Cutter"
  • Kansas State University won 3rd Prize and $ 500 for their entry "The Best Crunch"
  • Indiana University won 4th Prize and $ 250 for a video which could be named "A-R-Q-E"
  • Oregon State University won 5th Prize  $ 250 for their entry "The Quest For Perfect Texture".

South Dakota State University and University of Arkansas also submitted excellent videos, recieved honorable mention and were awarded $250.

Texture Technologies would like to thank all of the entrants for their energy and creativity and wonderful videos. Collectively the videos do a fabulous job highlighting the importance of texture analysis to the food industry!
