Texture Analyzers, Texture Analysis, and Texture Measurement Instruments

About: TTC Principals

Texture Technologies’ Principals are experts in texture analysis of food, pharmaceuticals, leather, thin films, cosmetics, adhesives, powders, gels, and other materials including medical devices and electronics. They are the definitive leaders in sales and support of texture analyzers and texture measurement instruments from Stable Micro Systems in North America.

Boine Johnson founded Texture Technologies in December 1987 and served as CEO and Chairman until February 2011. He was a graduate of Williams College and earned his MBA from Harvard University. He held R&D and senior management positions with AMF, GE, Perkin-Elmer and Technicon. Mr. Johnson was also the owner of Voland Corporation, which manufactured high-precision gas balances and many other instruments. At Voland, and later at Texture Technologies, he established hundreds of customer relationships selling the Voland-Stevens LFRA TA-1000 Texture Analyzers.

When his clients needed more capacity, accuracy, and functionality than Voland could provide, as well as a computerized interface, Mr. Johnson worked with Stable Micro Systems on the prototype of the TA.XT2 Texture Analyzer. Over the last twenty years, while SMS developed the pre-eminent texture measurement instruments and software, Mr. Johnson built a world-class support and application-driven distribution system in North America.

We, of course, will miss him sorely as will his many colleagues, friends, and family but his commitment to building lasting relationships through delivery of the right solutions will forever be his legacy here at Texture Technologies.

Marc Johnson is President of Texture Technologies. He was graduated from Hobart College, and received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Texture Technologies in 1993, Mr. Johnson worked at Associates for International Research, Salomon Brothers, Aldrich Eastman & Waltch and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.

Since joining Texture Technologies, Mr. Johnson has been involved with developing probes, fixtures and test methods for thousands of products across a wide variety of industries. Mr. Johnson manages the company’s sales and support organization and works closely with Stable Micro Systems on developing new products and software that are responsive to customer requirements.

Mr. Johnson is a frequent lecturer at industry, university and corporate meetings on topics related to texture measurements for the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, adhesive, medical device and electronic industries.
