Background

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain involving inflammation of the plantar fascia tissue. A key part of effective treatment is wearing supportive footwear which absorbs the impact of each step. This study evaluates which OOFOS shoe model absorbs impact better and is more supportive to alleviate plantar fasciitis discomfort. OOFOS shoes were selected due to their popularity as a recovery footwear brand among nurses. A TA-004 1.5” diameter acrylic cylinder probe was used to press into the heel of different OOFOS shoes. This study will provide a benchmark for further studies comparing shoe insoles against the OOFOS brand shoes.
